Our History

McCue Gardens was founded in 1967 by Bruce McCue - he was 13 years old at the time. He started out growing and selling Pansies to a local garden center. Two years later, Bruce signed his first wholesale customer.

Within five years of starting the business, Bruce was growing more than 150 varieties of perennials and wildflowers (today McCue Gardens sells more than 1,500 varieties!).

Bruce continued to add wholesale customers during his first few years in business and eventually bought a delivery truck in 1975.

Many of his first customers continue to buy plants from McCue Gardens today, including Ward's Nursery in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, which has been a customer for more than 50 years now!

Today Bruce operates the nursery with his wife Cindy in the historic district of Wethersfield, Connecticut.
